Holiday Hacks for Hot, Sweaty, Screen-Hungry Kids! 🤪

Hey there, fellow parents!

Do you sometimes have mixed feelings during the summer holidays? First, there's that warm, nostalgic feeling, filled with all the best memories of past vacations spent with your children. But then, almost simultaneously, really contradicting flashbacks come rushing into your head, right?

The reality is a summer full of sun and fun, and a bunch of hot, sweaty, screen-hungry, often overtired kids who need to be entertained. You’re not alone, believe me. We've been through it all and have the battle scars to prove it.

First, let's address the elephant in the room. We’ve all experienced it when the going gets tough - felt that insanely strong temptation to hand over the iPad and call it a day. I've even thought about throwing the charger at the kids too, and closing the door!

But fear not, we will divert from screen-time by using other solutions up our sleeves. Read on to gain insight into some low-maintenance hacks that will help to save your summer sanity.

For starters, why not try a good, old-fashioned song and dance ? Music is a huge hit with kids, and you get bonus points if you get them to choreograph a dance routine to post on TikTok 😉

Next up, we have the perfect solution for when your family hotel room becomes a war zone. The cleaners can’t even get in the door, the children are cranky and you need to be cloned. We introduce a twist to a classic game: life saver hide and seek. 🤫

Gather the kids, tell them you’ll count to 100 while they hide. You must count very slowly and then regularly announce ‘difficulty’ finding them - it’s a perfect way to keep the kids busy whilst tidying the debris from the war zone.

Who knows, you might even sneak in a quick cup of tea while they're none the wiser in their hiding places! 🍵

Of course, no summer holiday is complete without pool-based pandemonium which goes like this: As soon as you look remotely comfortable on a sunbed, you will undoubtedly be summoned to the pool.

No sooner will you have dipped your toes in the water, you will be splashed and then abducted. But fear not! Try Marco Polo , a game of pool tag providing high entertainment levels for the kids and minimal effort levels for parents.

Remember to embrace the chaos, laugh in the face of exhaustion, and know that you're not alone on this wild ride!
